The Santa Barbara Wireless Foundation and the Santa Barbara Amateur Radio Club together form a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, public benefit corporation. The Santa Barbara Wireless Foundation develops and supports wireless telecommunications technologies for public safety, emergency communications, community service and scientific research in the Santa Barbara region. It supports an organized and comprehensive educational program and publicizes its activities and services to the community.
The organization achieves its goals through a system of leadership development, prudent financial management, and a dedication to public service. Its success is shown by a progressive increase in involved membership, public recognition and support, development of new technologies, and acquisition and utilization of assets.
This scholarship is funded through contributions made to the Santa Barbara Wireless Foundation Scholarship Fund. Contributions to the Scholarship Fund are tax-deductible.
Each year, the Scholarship Committee will select one or more students who will receive up to $1,000 to support their higher education goals.

Requirements: Applicants must be high school seniors or community college students in Santa Barbara, Ventura or San Luis Obispo counties who are pursuing or plan to pursue an associate's degree, bachelor’s degree or a career and technical education program in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics field. Applicants should have an excellent academic record. While not a requirement, preference is given to applicants who hold an active FCC amateur radio license.
